The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People strives to achieve equity, social inclusion, and political rights by forwarding government policies that eliminate discrimination and expand human rights for everyone. Since their founding, they have led the campaign for equality and helped pass legislation like the Civil Rights Act of 1957, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the Fair Housing Act of 1968.

Part of their mission is highlighting the achievements of people within the black community. This year, for their 80th annual Gala, they honored Stevie Wonder, Sherrilyn Ifill, and Nikole Hannah-Jones for their unapologetic use of truth as power. All three of the honorees refused to back down when others tried to silence them.

Stevie Wonder is a prolific artist. He has sold over 1 million albums worldwide and won over 25 Grammys. He was also the youngest solo artist to ever be welcomed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His songs are well-known across the globe, from Superstition to Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

Nikole Hannah-Jones is an investigative journalist known for her coverage of civil rights in the United States. Since 2015, she has written for the New York Times Magazine as a staff writer, but her career has led her to cover topics about teaching, working for nonprofit news organizations, and even becoming an elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2020, she won the Pulitzer Prize for her coverage of the 1619 Project.

Sherilyn Ifill served as Director Counsel and the Seventh President for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund from 2013 to 2022. She was the second woman to lead the LDF and provided transformational leadership throughout the pandemic.

These three examples of leadership and equality rightfully earned their awards, and Crystal Prints was proud to create these one-of-a-kind pieces.
