Since 2004, Crystal Prints has been manufacturing top-quality custom crystal gifts, crystal awards and memorials. We use your photos, logos, artwork and text to create beautiful and everlasting subsurface laser-engraved crystal keepsakes.
We wanted a business that would bring a bit of joy and happiness to the world. One that could benefit from our many years of image capture experience while satisfying our passions for new technology, art and love of people. After much deliberation and research, we found that subsurface engraved crystal awards, personalized gifts and memorials celebrating people’s lives and accomplishments fit our criteria and could be offered and fulfilled using our sub-surface laser engravers.
We want your crystal gift to touch the heart of its recipient, so we make your finished crystal as stunning as possible. Your favorite photos and text are skillfully enhanced, cropped, sized and arranged into the optical crystal shape of your choice. The final artwork is imported to our state-of-the-art sub-surface laser engravers for our proprietary engraving process. The finished piece is placed in a velvet lined gift box and shipped via UPS.

Wayne Sandberg’s extensive image and data capture background began in 1970 at the U.S Census Bureau’s Engineering Division.
The U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland Maryland is tasked by Congress to process the US Census data every 10 years. Mr. Sandberg assisted with building and maintaining the systems used to capture and process images of hundreds of millions of census questionnaires. They were so successful with the 1970 census that the 1971 Canadian census was also processed by these capture and processing systems. Sandberg helped with the development and deployment of these and other Image capture systems during his tenure there.
In 1972 Terminal Data Corporation of Woodland Hills CA. (TDC) heard of the systems developed by the Census Bureau and visited the engineering lab in Suitland MD. Seeing the commercial potential of the automated capture systems developed for the government, they built a commercial version for automated image capture of business and legal documents ie. Land, Court, Personnel, Insurance, etc. records.
In 1974 they recruited Mr. Sandberg to help with the deployment and maintenance of their new automated document capture machines. While there, Mr. Sandberg developed a team of field engineers who installed scores of the Terminal Data document capture machines over the next several years.
In 1978 Mr. Sandberg accepted the position of VP of Manufacturing at Research Publications Inc. in New Haven CT. There, Mr. Sandberg developed the Patent capture operation where thousands of patents were captured, copied and distributed to libraries and commercial subscribers each month. While there, Mr. Sandberg researched video discs, a new technology used to store and distribute information. This early research opened his eyes to the up and coming digital document evolution.
In 1980 Mr. Sandberg co-founded Amitech Corporation to pursue his dream of developing a commercial engineering laboratory to develop image and data capture systems. His team at Amitech Corporation proceeded to develop the first production high speed microfilm image enhancement and scanning systems. Millions of documents have been digitized using the systems developed by Amitech Corporation. Airforce Personnel records, Scotland Yard arrest records, TIAA CREF insurance records, Attorneys Title Land Records, FBI Fingerprint records, and many more were digitized with these systems.
In 1998 Lason Systems Inc, the fastest growing public company in Michigan, acquired Amitech Corporation. Mr. Sandberg remained as VP of the Lason Amitech Division for 2 more years deploying state of the art image and data-capture systems nationwide.
In 2003, Wicks and Wilson of the UK developed 3d scanning technology for creating 3d crystal portraits and in 2004 Crystal Prints Inc was formed to distribute their scanners throughout the US. These scanners were used to create 3d busts images of couples and up to four individuals for subsurface engraved 3d crystal portraits.
Today 2d to 3D AI software and image enhancement algorithms have evolved to the point that hardware scanners are not required to create the 3D photo crystal portraits.
After so many years in the field of imaging, Mr. Sandberg has mastered the art of 3D subsurface engraving and Crystal Prints Inc. provides the platform for him and his team to provide the very best in sub-surface engraved 3d crystal gifts, awards and memorials.
